MARCELO’S MESSAGE

By M. Kupferwasser, HTBE Pres.

I am very happy that our HTBE community celebrated a family style Passover which included many new guests. I would like to thank all of you who came to our Passover Second Seder and contributed with your presence, generous donations and tremendous amount of work to produce this event.

I welcome you to join us in our Saturday morning services and come and hear the inspiring and uplifting sermons from our Rabbi Ira, and enjoy our “homey” Kiddush/Luncheon.

My goal for HTBE is to celebrate the welcoming of Shabbat on all Friday nights with musical and uplifting services to end the stressful weeks with a relaxing experience.

We are offering for now only one Friday night service per month. In order to have additional services, we would need sponsors.

I intend to continue having a participatory community where all new ideas are considered and welcomed. Many events are planned and I welcome any new ideas you might have. We are soon starting to plan our High Holidays and you will be receiving your membership package sometime in June.  Join our committees to make this a thriving community.

PASSOVER SEDER SUCCESS

Our Passover Community Seder turned out to be an overwhelming success. It was not easy to outdo last year’s Seder, but thanks to the hard work, contributions, and participation of so many people: We did it!!

First, we have to acknowledge Carmen Fraser, whose vision and tireless efforts really made it happen.  She directed the Passover Committee (see list) to produce a truly elegant and participatory event.

We added an accordion player Amnon Charesh who added an international flavor, and Choir Director Nancy Campeau, as well as Cantor Beth added their beautiful voices. What really made the Seder a community event was the participation of congregants and friends from every table. Rabbi Ira ran around Neiman Hall from table to table to bring a plethora of voices into the mix. Community singing and dancing were included as well.

In addition, we had an amazing multi-media presentation during the dinner which included pictures and music of the rich history of HTBE. So many of our long standing members had an emotional stroll through Memory Lane, and some of our newer friends got a taste of our ninety year history. Many thanks go to Tippy Felzenstien for operating the equipment.

Also, the food was great! We thank Kosher Buffet for the excellent fare and service.

We are already thinking about how to improve our Community Seder for next year. It won’t be easy but we are confident that it can be done with your help.
